Sudha Punshi / nee Bhalla, has had the benefit of substantial art training in a wide range of visual disciplines. With distinction from College of Art, Delhi, she was the recipient of the National Cultural Scholarship for graphics and painting under the guidance of Somnath Hore and Krishen Khanna respectively.
As a British Council Scholar for Post Graduate studies in Painting at Reading University U.K., she further developed her visual vocabulary and painting skills in oils. Here her global horizon was widened under the guidance of Prof. Claude Rogers and Terry Frost, with annual assessment by Sir William Coldstream. This experience helped her reach the understanding of the importance of perfecting skills which, however, need always remain second to creativity.
Her mixed media works on paper have been created after acquiring considerable work experience at Professor Dai Ming De's studio in Shanghai, China.
While living in London during the nineties, Sudha studied Art History and Architecture at the London University. This has charted out her perseverance, predilection and challenge in painting, by reiterating that "A Work of Art is Timeless and Universal". Her work endeavours towards this.
With many group and solo shows in Delhi, Reading, Mumbai and London, her works have been acquired by art collectors, both in India and abroad.
